Password Protected Directories
Understand more about password-protected directories as well as what they bring to your web site.
If you wish to keep some content hidden from the public eye, you could switch on password protection for a specific folder - either the main site folder or any other one below it. If this feature is turned on, a pop-up shall appear each time a person attempts to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link that goes a few levels deeper, so login info shall be needed for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg in case you have secured the domain.com folder. If the details aren't valid, a “403 Forbidden” message shall appear and there isn't any method of getting around this restriction, so you can be sure that no one will be able to access the shielded content. The function could be beneficial in a number of situations - if only a number of people must be able to see particular files, if you are building a site and you don't want people to see it prior to it being completed, etc.

Password Protected Directories in Shared Hosting
All of our
shared plans include an exceptionally useful tool which will enable you to shield any folder within your account from unauthorized access with simply two clicks. Once you log in to your Hepsia hosting CP, you'll simply have to navigate to the Password Protection section, to select the main domain or subdomain, to specify the folder which should be protected - the root folder or some folder under it, and then to enter the username and the password which have to be used to access the content in question. The function shall be active right away, so in case you make an effort to open the folder/website, you shall be prompted to enter the login info. You can create or remove many usernames for the same folder, if needed. If you check out the File Manager section, all password-protected folders shall be shown with a compact padlock icon.
